Hello! My name is Max, and I am a very experienced math tutor looking to help anybody who seems to be running into a mental wall against math. Mathematics can seem to be a very complex field of study and very overwhelming at times, but I'm here to help. It is important to try many different teaching styles, and I will find the right style that fits you. We can tackle math one problem at a time to build a solid foundation of knowledge. It's important to build a solid base of knowledge because all math builds on previous information, and if one concept is not grasped, it will continually appear and prevent further understanding of additional topics. I have been tutoring math students for over 15 years, initially starting with helping friends with homework and progressing to paid tutoring of fellow students. Here are some recent highlights of my previous math education work experiences:
From 2015-2019, I lived in Dallas, Texas and I worked for 5 years for Edmentum, an E-learning company. I wrote math and science curriculum that is used in all 50 states, mainly through Common Core. In my final year with Edmentum, I was promoted to be a Senior Mathematics Curriculum Developer.
From 2020-2021, I worked as a Senior Instructor and Curriculum Manager for Principia Tutors in Northern Virginia. I tutored students of all ages, primarily focused on accelerated math paths for advanced middle school and high school students. Then, from 2022 through the summer of 2023, I was promoted to the Director of Math and Science as well as the TJ Director, a program to prepare students for the essay admittance exams to get into Thomas Jefferson High School, one of the top high schools in the entire United States.
In August of 2023, I moved back to my hometown of Pittsburgh to be closer to family, and I look forward to working with students during the upcoming school year!
